FFSA Visio: Figure skating is a competitive, attractive hobby and a prominent sport with international success.

FFSA Mission: The purpose of the Finnish Figure Skating Association is to offer premises for its member clubs' broad recreational and competitive activities and ensure the sport's international success.

FFSA Operational Plan

The main responsibilities of the Finnish Figure Skating Association are to promote figure skating and to act as the head organization for figure skating clubs.

The FFSA operational plan in short:

  • Skating is a basic skill known by all Finns
  • Interested skaters are offered professional coaching by clubs
  • Talented skaters are offered the conditions needed to success at the international level

The FFSA Areas of Operation

Operations of the FFSA are divided into four areas:

  1. Kids and teenagers
  2. Competitive and top figure skating
  3. Adults
  4. General operations and support

In addition to the FFSA board, ten different specialist groups are responsible of the activities and development of the operational areas.

The FFSA publishes its own magazine.

Statistics

Active skaters (licensed skaters): approximately 4000 (season 2007-2008)

Skate school: over 10 000 kids

Recreational skaters: 200 000 (a national sports research)
