Russians Jana Khokhlova and Sergei Novitski are leading after Original Dance. There happened no change in the order of the top three skating couples. Khokhlova and Novitski danced their Original Dance smoothly with scores 62,17. - We are very satisfied since our elements were clean today and the component scores were high. The audience was very nice, commented Khokhlova after their skating. - Our leading position after the Compulsory Dance mean nothing yet. This we learnt at the last year’s world championships. - We changed our first lifting after Russian championships. It was a good decision apparently, because we got higher technical scores, continues Novitski. Italian Federica Faiella and Massimo Scali are holding the second place with scores 59,03, despite a small mistake. - During this season we have felt like ready for medal positions. The pressure is difficult to handle, but today we felt like Ginger and Fred Astaire on the ice. We made only one small mistake in the twizzles. We came here to reach the medal and did not consider other ice-dancers withdrawal to affect, says Massimo Scali. Third place has siblings Sinead and John Kerr from the Great Britain. Like Italians the British pair is reaching for the European championships medial for the first time. - In the beginning we were nervous, but when the music started everything went well. We were very energetic. In order to reach the medial you need to do your best and we hope that it is enough, told Sinead Kerr after their performance. - We are very happy with our scores. Personally I have never been as nervous as today, but the audience really cheered us and I enjoyed the skating. This is the first time in our career that we are so close to medal, which creates pressure, says John Kerr. Friday’s Free Dance will be very exciting, since the fourth couple French Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzat are very close to Kerrs. If the French couple wins them in the Free Dance, they will win their first medal as well. Fifth position is held by French Pernelle Carron and Matthieu Jost. Finnish ice-dancing couple Oksana Klimova and Sasha Palomäki are placed 23rd. - Unless our mistake in twizzles, we could have reached our season’s best. Because we are representing the hosting country, we enter the free dance automatically. Despite of that it is important for us to earn the position ourselves, says Palomäki.
